Bowling Alleygations 2-4-21 | Dan Conway ~ Team 3

St. Louis Rotary Bowling League | Alleygations Week 21 – February 1, 2021 From:   Captain Dan Conway – Team 3This past Monday’s bowling finished the 3rd quarter with Team Lorenz finishing first over Team Lane which finished second.  It could have gone either way but Team Lorenz closed it out winning the third game thus taking two of the three games and total pins.  Kent Steinbrueck bowled a nice 617 game with nice performances by Bob Barnes and Doug Lorenz.  This was enough to offset Carl Lane’s nice 622 game.  Team Lorenz wins 14 points to Team Lane’s 6 points.…

Bowling Alleygations 1-25-21 | Carl Lane ~ Team 2

St. Louis Rotary Bowling League | Alleygations Week 20 (January 25, 2021)Leonard managed to capture 3 of the top scoring 4 games with his 235 leading all bowlers.  Terry bowled a strong 213 but the remaining bowlers could not breach that elusive 200 score.  A few failed the 100 mark, but that’s another story. This season has been interesting in many respects.  For instance, the Lorenz team has steadily improved its standing each quarter going from #4 to #2 to #1 (currently).  The Lane team has gone from #6 to #3 to #2 (currently but is continuing to pressure Lorenz for…

Bowling Alleygations 1-18-21 | Matthew Weiss ~ Team 1

St. Louis Rotary Bowling League | Alleygations for week 19 (January 18, 2021) There was a huge smile on Olivette Lanes proprietor and team Klackner. Captain Don Klackner‘s face when entering the lanes this past Monday night. MLK day brought in the 23% maximum capacity all day and for most of the weekend as well. Think he earned a couple of well-deserved nickels!Great to see business really picking up for such a nice guy and his staff! But week 4 of the 3rd Quarter wasn’t so cheery for the Klack Team.Carl “Night Train” Lane single handedly derailed the Klacks with his 179, 224,…

St. Louis Rotary Bowling League | Alleygations for week 18 (January 11, 2021) Last Monday was another fun night at OlivetteLanes!  We had 2 bowlers who scored over 200 in a scratch game.  Lehmkuhl scored 233 in his 1st gameof the night and Steinbrueck scored 202 in his 3rd game of thenight.  Several of us enjoyed the dining room being open againwhere you can always enjoy great food, drinks and conversation.   ALL are welcome to join our bowling league(which happens to be the oldest bowling league west of theMississippi!) Trust me the fellowship and competitive funare both top notch!  If you interested in joining the bowling leagueor…

St. Louis Rotary Bowling LeagueAlleygations for week 17 (January 4, 20201) A New Year!  First time we have bowled in 2021.  It was not pretty.  The stock market is up and our bowling scores are down.  Hopefully, not a good indication of the coming year. One game of 200, no games over 200.  Terry Warner was second with a 187. Maybe we were still suffering from New Years Eve!Jones team took 20 points from Klackner team.  Lane 12 points vs Lorenz 8 points. Conway 12 points vs Maddox 8 points.  Two bowlers had a scratch series over 500, Leonard – 503 and “doc” – 540.  Ladies scores,…

to bowl or not to bowl - what a stupid question

Bowling Alleygations 12-28-20 | Captain Doug Lorenz ~ Team 4

St. Louis Rotary Bowling LeagueAlleygations for week 16 (12/28/2020) The Rotary Bowling League began the third quarter this week.  We had a decent turnout with 16 bowlers this week. Team Lorenz bested Team Klackner 16 – 4 led by Bob “Newsie” Barnes who bowled a 685-handicap series to lead all bowlers.  Kent Steinbrueck was second overall for handicap series this week with a 671 series.  I also participated but it was not noteworthy.  This is the first time this season that Team Lorenz is shown in first place in the standings.  It is also the first week that Team Klackner is shown…

to bowl or not to bowl - what a stupid question

Bowling Alleygations 12-14-20 | Captain Carl Lane ~ Team 2

Rotary Bowling Week 14 – 12/14/20Bowling Alleygations 12-14-20 | Carl LaneUnfortunately, I have not received the recap for the bowling results for the 12/14 matches.  So I am relying on my memory to report the results from last week………………………. ………….…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..So much for the memory.  But I can report Team Klackner clinched the second quarter top spot LAST WEEK.  So the rest of the teams are bowling for pride or to enjoy the company of their fellow/fellowwomen(?) bowlers.I often hear comments that scores are lower on the lanes next to the wall (23, 24).  In fact, this appears to be true.  So far this season the…

Bowling Alleygations 12-7-20 | Captain Don Klackner ~ Team 1

Rotary Week 13 – 12/7/20This week saw the return to the lanes of some Rotarians that have been missing for a few weeks.  Welcome back Terry Werner, Doug & Don Lorenz, and Matt Weiss.  The roster was almost complete as we were only missing 2 spots.  Although that is exciting news, the bigger news for the evening was the Superhero bowling performance of Don “the Legend” Lorenz.  Don started the night out with 10 strikes in a row for a 288 game.  But he didn’t stop there as he continued his magic and ended the night with a 735 series. …

Captain Matthew Maddox - Team 6 - St Louis Rotary Bowling 2020-2021 Season - Week 12

Bowling Alleygations 11-30-20 | Captain Matthew Maddox ~ Team 6

St. Louis Rotary Bowling League Alleygations for week 12  (11/30/2020) It may have been a cold evening last Monday, but Olivette Lanes was warm and cozy.   Being able to get out and about this time of year when it’s cold and dark outside is always  appreciated; especially so with the pandemic going on.  As the pandemic continues,  attendance has been much lighter the past several weeks.  With only thirteen bowlers out of  thirty six in attendance, some of the teams got their cardio workouts in.  I like to call it  “aerobic bowling”.   Jack Windish was on fire for part of…

Captain Doc Jones - Team 5 2020-21 Season

Bowling Alleygations 11-23-20 | Captain doc Jones ~ Team 5

St. Louis Rotary Bowling LeagueAlleygations for week 11  (11/23/2020)It was a quiet night at Olivette Lanes last Monday.  Only eleven bowlers showed up out of thirty six.  There were two people that bowled over 200 – Windish at 204 and “doc”  at 208.  Three bowlers had scratched series over 500 – “doc”, Windish and Klackner.   Team points for last week – Lorenz 16 , Maddox 4                                                Jones 14,   Lane 6             …
