Alleygations, Week 25
Captain Baker
Captain Baker, reporting in to fill in for Captain Maddox who I think is somewhere in
Vegas. We probably won’t hear about his trip, because, you know. I would like to point
out that nobody from Team Maddox was willing to write Alleygations in place of their
Captain, and the person who was next in line (from the same family), also refused,
citing other responsibilities.
On Lanes 21-22, Team Baker ousted Team Cooper 20-2. It was almost a 4-1 against
Captain Rose until Sleeping Kayla finally decided to wake up and get to bowling. She
missed Game 1 but bowled 2 & 3. During this matchup we saw a lot of wiggling pins that
didn’t fall down, and some other pin magic. In the second frame of Game 1, Ralph hit
the pins with his usual brute force and the 1 pin tilted and wiggled but stayed up. Then
a frame or two later, a fallen pin rotated around the middle pin several times before
finally knocking it over. The only person who couldn’t do their job tonight was Zuke.
Then, in Game 2, 2nd frame, Ralph hit the pins so hard that one of them was spinning in
place until it got too dizzy and finally fell.
Maddie Zuke didn’t have as stellar a night as she did last week with her 700+ Handicap
series where she now sits just behind Joan Hecker, but she did manage to beat her
absentee player by scoring above her average. She also won her first 50/50 drawing,
winning $80.
Team Weiss thought it was worth mentioning that in two games they had an all strikes
round. I guess that’s ok. Those Weiss guys managed to squeak by Team Maddox 16-
6 and were the last teams on the lanes. I didn’t get wind of any hijinx happening so I
assume everything was above board.
On lanes 19 & 20, Team Cowell bested Team Werner 16-6, even with a loan of Don
Lorenz from Team Baker and his 663 Handicap Series.
I did not get to see much of the Soifer-Lane matchup on Lanes 23 & 24, and even though
Lane bested Soifer 14-8, Soifer remains in the lead, two points ahead of Lane and
Weiss tied at second.
We’re winding down our 4th quarter and getting ready for the bowl-off and our trip to
Columbia, MO to beat Kansas City Rotary. Ralph Decker has been passing around the
signup sheets.
Strikes and spares, and splits, and pins that don’t fall down, and Lauren breaking lanes
(week 34).
