BE PROUD TO BE A ROTARIAN

ESPECIALLY A ROTARIAN IN THE ROTARY CLUB OF ST. LOUIS

With just 2 months left in the 2020-21 Rotary year we have accomplished much but have many challenges ahead of us. We must continue our efforts to increase membership as this is what allows us to accomplish some of the many great things, we should be proud of. The Community Service Grants will be distributed at the beginning of June, our Programs are as good as or I would argue better than any in the area or the state. The ability of serving the community should not be overlooked but COVID 19 slowed many of our service projects. I am sure we will start these up soon. Another often overlooked that our Club is active in is New Generations, which includes but not limited to Rotaract, RYLA, 8th Grade Awards, and Young Citizens Awards. We now have 2 Rotaract Clubs we are sponsoring (SLU and Washington U). RYLA Camp will be starting soon and the 8th Grade Awards are in progress. These are just some of the many great things our club is involved with this year. BE PROUD TO BE A CLUB 11 ROTARIAN.

Being a Rotarian means serving your community, networking, making friends, and building international relationships. Through Rotary, you have the opportunity to expand your leadership skills and achieve your goals. Get involved in a committee, sit with someone different every week, when ask to serve on as a Board position treat it as a special invitation to not only serve but also enlighten yourself. You will find you will gain much more personally than you can only dream of.

For those that were at the meeting last Thursday, you were there for an outstanding speech on Ethical Leadership. Not only was Rabbi Goldson interesting to listen to but he continued to give a strong message. I was thinking while listening to him, how his thoughts closely intertwined with our Four Way Test. For those not in attendance, watch the recording that Rose has put into this newsletter.

HAVE YOU REGISTERED FOR THIS THURSDAY’S MEETING? We will be offsite from the MAC this week as we will be fortunate enough to be some of the first to get a tour of the FOUNDRY. Remember if you have not registered, we might not have a lunch available for you. The 30-minute tour to be done after lunch will cover the highlights of the new retail and entertainment development in Mid Town near IKEA.

The Four-Way Test of the things we think, say or do

1.  Is it the truth?

2.  Is it fair to all concerned?

3.  Will it build goodwill and better friendships?

4.  Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

From the Desk of Linda Puchbauer, District 6060 Rotary Foundation Chair

We are entering our fourth quarter for this Rotary year.  My how time flies!  As of March 1, 2021 our Annual Giving by Rotarians to the Rotary Foundation is $132,000.  The goal is $300,000 by June 30.  There are still Clubs that do not have an Annual Fund Goal for 2020-21.  Look deep in your hearts to see what you can do to help the Rotary Foundation carry out its mission of “Doing Good in the World” This also helps our local communities funding the CAP Grants and local projects.

As we come out of the COVID 19 this year, let’s try to work adding to our membership. If everyone just asks one close friend or business associate, we will be able to grow in 2021.

Pass on information about our club and about Rotary to your friends, send the Pepperbox to them, Like and Share on Social Media. We really do have a great club, let’s not be afraid to tell the WORLD.
