BE PROUD TO BE A ROTARIAN

ESPECIALLY A ROTARIAN IN THE ROTARY CLUB OF ST. LOUIS

Being a Rotarian means serving your community, networking, making friends, and building international relationships. Through Rotary, you have the opportunity to expand your leadership skills and achieve your goals. Get involved in a committee, sit with someone different every week, when ask to serve on as a Board position treat it as a special invitation to not only serve but also enlighten yourself. You will find you will gain much more personally than you can only dream of.

Opening Day for the Cardinals is about 2 weeks out now but hopefully we remember that we have had 2 Cardinal Programs to commemorate this. This last week we had Bill DeWitt III as our program and he was as good as advertised. Not once did he talk about the players or personnel but was able to fill about 50 minutes of Cardinal information. He spoke more about some of the issues facing not only the Cardinals and MLB but also with sports in general. Bill has been President of the St. Louis Cardinals since 2008 and his family has owned the Cardinals since 2996 (25 years), They have had quite a run.

This Thursday we will have Larry Campbell as the speaker. The program will evolve around his book, Rollin’ Down the River – Discovering People & Places Along the Mighty Missouri. Should be interesting judging by the title.

Each week District 6060 Governor Tom Drennan covers events involving our district, 6060. In each of his weekly newsletters he outlines the history and the current state of one of the clubs in our district. Every Rotarian in Club 11 should be receiving the newsletter on Monday morning via an email. Look for it.

This week he covered the Rotary Club of Perryville. It was founded in 1997, They currently have 30 members but are able to accomplish incredible things in their community. The Club has established a satellite Club called Rotary After Hours and an Interact Club consisting of high school students from both the public school and the local Catholic high school. The Club is very close knit and members celebrate quarterly with a joint gathering of the noon members and after-hours members with food, drink and fellowship

The Four-Way Test of the things we think, say or do

  1. Is it the truth?
  2. Is it fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
  4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

As we come out of the COVID 19 this year, let’s try to work adding to our membership. If everyone just asks one close friend or business associate, we will be able to grow in 2021.

Pass on information about our club and about Rotary to your friends, send the Pepperbox to them, Like and Share on Social Media. We really do have a great club, let’s not be afraid to tell the WORLD.
