Bowling Alleygations 2-22-21 | Doc Jones ~ Team 5

capt-gary-jones-team 5 2020-2021 season

St. Louis Rotary Bowling League | Alleygations Week 23 - February 22, 2021

After missing bowling due to our winter
weather, looks like a week of rest helped us all to have higher scores.
Team Jones is in first place with team Conway only 7 points behind, followed by
team Lorenz, Maddox, Klackner and Lane.
April 5th is the end of the 4th quarter and April 12th is the 4th quarter
roll-offs. Looks like over 50% of our bowlers will be in the League
Championship Roll-off.
Our makeup date for missing bowling due to bad weather is Wednesday, March
24th.

Our league bowling banquet will be April 19th at LoRusso’s Cucina Restaurant.

March 2021
A lot of good things happen in March every year.
Spring Starts, Animals awake from hibernation, the NCAA Basketball has their big tournament every year affectionately called March Madness,
the Major League Baseball season starts, March is National Red Cross Month, the Easter season.
But in 2020, March was the month that changed our lives as most of us realized that COVID 19 was here and we better take notice. As we come out of this, but continue to take safe, let’s try to remember that March is the beginning of Spring and the outdoors and friendships should not be taken for granted. STAY HEALTHY AND RESPECT OTHERS

The Four-Way Test of the things we think, say or do
⦁ Is it the truth?
⦁ Is it fair to all concerned?
⦁ Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
⦁ Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
DEFINITELY WORDS TO LIVE OUR LIVES BY

PROGRAMS
On February 25th our program was from Greater St. Louis, Inc. Missy Kelley and Sarah Arnosky were wonderful in giving us an update on a 10-year plan for Downtown St. Louis. Even though they were sharing the information via zoom it was great information and they presented thoroughly. It felt like they were in the room with us. Hopefully we will continue to have they annually to keep us informed on what is around us. I know last week I said you shouldn’t miss this program and I was right. Great job Missy and Sarah.
March 4th is Engineer’s Day at Rotary. Although we will not have as many guest as in previous years, the speaker should be just as good. Dr. Joel Burken, Curators Distinguished Professor at the Missouri University S&T. Make sure to attend as it should be another good program.

Great Rivers Greenway ~ Emma Klues, VP of Communications & Outreach

Emma Klues, VP of Communication & Outreach, Great Rivers Greenway Speaker at St Louis Rotary 3-11-21
OUR MISSION: Connecting the St. Louis region with greenways, making it a vibrant place to live, work, and play.

Great Rivers Greenway is the public agency connecting the St. Louis region with greenways. St. Louisans decided to leave a legacy for future generations by investing in and connecting together some of our region’s best assets – rivers, parks and communities
A vote of the people in the year 2000 created a sales tax that allows us, with lots of partner and citizen input, to build, care for and bring to life the network of greenways, creating healthy habitats and watersheds along the way.

My team and I oversee communications, community engagement, programming and events, outreach and anything else that gets people to live life outside!
