Each week I will highlight something about Rotary that all Rotarians should know or be aware of.

HONORARY MEMBERSHIP
“Honorary” is one of the two types of membership a person may have in a Rotary club. This type of membership is the highest distinction a Rotary club can confer and is exercised only in exceptional cases to recognize an individual for unusual service and contributions to Rotary and society. Honorary members cannot propose new members to the club, do not hold office and are exempt from attendance requirements and club dues.
Many distinguished heads of state, explorers, authors, musicians, astronauts and other public personalities have been honorary members of Rotary clubs, including King Gustaf of Sweden, King George VI of England, King Badouin of Belgium, King Hassan III of Morocco, Sir Winston Churchill, humanitarian Albert Schweitzer, Charles Lindbergh, composer Jean Sibelius, explorer Sir Edmund Hillary, Thor Heyerdahl, Thomas Edison, Walt Disney, Bob Hope, Dr. Albert Sabin, British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and many of the presidents of the United States. Truly, those selected for honorary membership are those who have done much to further the ideals of Rotary. (22)

READ THE PEPPERBOX – BE PROUD TO BE A ROTARIAN

Pass on information about our club and about Rotary to your friends

Have you read your Rotary Magazine yet this month? The November issue just arrived last week.

MAKES ME PROUD TO BE A ROTARIAN IN THE ROTARY CLUB OF ST. LOUIS

The Four-Way Test of the things we think, say or do

  1. Is it the truth?

  2. Is it fair to all concerned?

  3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?

  4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

Ageless Quotes – Age 47 to 51 (continued from last week)

I’ve learned that motel mattresses are better
on the side away from the phone.  Age 51

I’ve learned that you can tell a lot about a
man by the way he handles these three things: a rainy
day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.  Age 52

I’ve learned that keeping a vegetable garden
is worth more than a medicine cabinet full of pills.  Age 53

I’ve learned that regardless of your relationship
with your parents, you miss them terribly after they
die.  Age 55

MORE TO FOLLOW NEXT WEEK

Please continue to work at staying healthy and follow the Covid-19 guidelines. We have maintained and will continue to maintain the guidelines set down by the Missouri Athletic Club, which is following the guidelines set down by the City of St. Louis.

Last Thursday David Smale, a lifelong Kansas City resident, reported about his passion in life, The Kansas City Chiefs and the sports scene in Kansas City. The impassioned program gave stories about his love for the Chiefs from an early age with his brother, Mom and Aunt going to a game at the old Municipal Stadium through their championship season last year. His new book, The Keys to the Kingdom illustrates the timelines of this storied franchise.

This coming Thursday will be our Annual Veteran’s Day program which is done in conjunction with the Missouri Athletic Club. Due to the virus we will not be able to pack the room to celebrate our Veterans and our Country. We will have our meeting as normal but instead of a speaker we will have a celebration that will be partly recorded followed be awarding of the Veteran’s Day awards live at our meeting.

If you attend one meeting this is the meeting to attend to Celebrate our love of our Country and the men and women that served us to keep us Free.

Remember to complete the pre-meeting online registration that Joan will send out to everyone. This pertains to both those attending live and virtually. Look for it in your mailbox and if you don’t receive it look in your spam folder. Please respond to the email to give us a good idea of attendance.

If you missed last week’s meeting or any meeting you can watch the recording of the zoom presentation by clicking on the link in the Pepperbox.

We are continuing to work to make the zoom presentations better every week. Please let Joan know if you have and suggestions and she will pass them on to the MAC who is handling the production of the video.

ZOOM BROADCAST WILL CONTINUE FOR AT LEAST UNTIL THE END OF DECEMBER 2020 FOR THOSE THAT CANNOT MAKE THE MEETINGS IN PERSON.

PLEASE CONTINUE TO WORK AT BEING HEALTHY DURING THESE TRYING TIMES
