BE PROUD TO BE A ROTARIAN
ESPECIALLY A ROTARIAN IN THE ROTARY CLUB OF ST. LOUIS
As we have consistently done with our Club and our Meetings, we will continue to
follow the guidelines set by the City of St. Louis and the Missouri Athletic Club (Our meeting site) while having a safe environment.
We are one week closer to completing year 2020 and starting a new year 2021. Let’s always remember to be THANKFUL for the important things in our lives. Our freedom to speech, religion and other important choices should never be taken for granted.
This Thursday, December 10th will be our second to last meeting of 2020. These last 2 meetings will be held LIVE and via ZOOM. We continue this way until any changes by either the CITY or the MAC.
Pass on information about our club and about Rotary to your friends
ROTARY MAGAZINE DECEMBER 2020
In the recent Rotary Magazine dated December 2020 there are a number of great articles on SERVICE ABOVE SELF. Great stuff, make sure to check this months articles.
Also on Page 50 it states: WE’RE BUILDING THE FUTURE OF ROTARY.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
In this month’s Rotary magazine it states that Rotary International is working on A Bold Plan, for and by the People of Action.
At the center of the effort is an Action Plan: a multi-year strategic roadmap that will help us become the Rotary we want to be – the Rotary the world wants us to be. Be sure to read this as it guides our future from a big level.
THE ACTION PLAN’S FOUR PRIORITIES FOR ROTARY INTERNATIONAL
Priority 1. Increase our impact Priority 2. Expand our Reach
Priority 3. Enhance Participant Engagement Priority 4. Increase our Ability to Adapt
What is ironic is that our club, Club 11 is working on our own Plan of Action, specifically for our club. We have assembled a committee to discuss, create and assemble the information to guide us. It will include action items and areas of responsibility required along with follow up actions.
Our final report will be reviewed by the committee this week for final presentation to the Board next week. In January we will roll this information out to the Club.

The Four-Way Test of the things we
think, say or do
1. Is it the truth?
2. Is it fair to all concerned?
3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
Rotary Birthdays December 7th – December 13th
Rotary Anniversaries December7th – December 13th
Denise Wondolowski 32 years December 8th
Bob Kocher 34 years December 11th
Frank Brandhorst 38 years December 9th
Last Thursday was our first meeting back since Thanksgiving Day.
Our speaker was AJ Medlock, the Senior Archivist from the State Historic Society of Missouri. He gave us an abundance of information of how the Society was created and what resources are available there either online or by appointment. Our Club also has some
documents there that were from 1977 and prior.
We had a winner in the drawing this week. We were down to 7 cards in the deck from the original 52. One had been eliminated each week. A new deck will begin. Bob Kocher had
the winning ticket. Since Bob is out on medical leave, Matt Weiss bought the tickets for Bob. He pulled the Ace of Clubs, THE WINNER.
This coming Thursday, December 10th our meeting will be both live and on zoom. The program will be our annual visit from Frank Viverito, President of the St Louis Sports Commission. Frank will give us an update on events scheduled in St. Louis and how the pandemic effects their status. It should be interesting.
NO MEETINGS ON DECEMBER 24TH AND DECEMBER 31ST
Each week I will highlight something about Rotary that all Rotarians should know or
be aware of.
“EVERY ROTARIAN AN EXAMPLE TO YOUTH”
In much of the official literature of Rotary International relating to service to young people, a special slogan will be found -“Every Rotarian an Example to Youth.” These words were adopted in 1949 by the Rotary International Board of Directors as an expression of
commitment to children and youth in each community in which Rotary clubs exist.
Serving young people has long been an important part of the Rotary program.
Youth service projects take many forms around the world. Rotarians sponsor Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, athletic teams, handicapped children’s centers, school safety patrols, summer camps, recreation areas, safe driving clinics, county fairs, child care centers and children’s hospitals. Many clubs provide vocational counseling, establish youth employment
program and promote use of The 4 -Way Test. Increasingly, drug and alcohol abuse prevention projects are being supported by Rotarians.
In every instance, Rotarians have an opportunity to be role models for the young men and women of their community. One learns to serve by observing others. As our youth grow to become adult leaders, it is hoped each will achieve that same desire and spirit to serve future generations of children and youth.
The slogan accepted over 70 years ago is just as vital today. It is a very thoughtful challenge, “Every Rotarian an Example to Youth.” (27)
If you missed last week’s meeting or any meeting you can watch the recording of the
zoom presentation by clicking on the link in the Pepperbox.
We are continuing to work to make the zoom presentations better every week. Please let Joan know if you have and suggestions and she will pass them on to the MAC who is handling the production of the video.
ZOOM BROADCAST WILL CONTINUE FOR AT LEAST UNTIL THE END OF JANUARY 2021 FOR THOSE THAT CANNOT MAKE THE MEETINGS IN PERSON.
PLEASE CONTINUE TO WORK AT BEING HEALTHY DURING THESE TRYING TIMES AND ALWAYS DO WHAT YOU THINK IS GOOD FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.
