A quote of inspiration
“Justice and Goodwill will outlast passion.”

Each week I will highlight something about Rotary that all Rotarians should know or be aware of.
FIVE AVENUES OF SERVICE
Rotary’s Five Avenues of Service are the philosophical and practical framework for the
work of this Rotary club.
The Avenues of Service are Article 6 of our club constitution:
1. Club Service, the first Avenue of Service, involves action a member should take
within this club to help it function successfully.
2. Vocational Service, the second Avenue of Service, has the purpose of promoting
high ethical standards in businesses and professions, recognizing the worthiness of
all dignified occupations, and fostering the ideal of service in the pursuit of all
vocations. The role of members includes conducting themselves and their
businesses in accordance with Rotary’s principles and lending their vocational
skills to club-developed projects in order to address the issues and needs of
society.
3. Community Service, the third Avenue of Service, comprises varied efforts that
members make, sometimes in conjunction with others, to improve the quality of
life of those who live within this club’s locality or municipality.
4. International Service, the fourth Avenue of Service, comprises those activities that
members do to advance international understanding, goodwill, and peace by
fostering acquaintance with people of other countries, their cultures, customs,
accomplishments, aspirations, and problems, through reading and correspondence
and through cooperation in all club activities and projects designed to help people
in other lands.
5. Youth Service, the fifth Avenue of Service, recognizes the positive change
implemented by youth and young adults through leadership development activities,
involvement in community and international service projects, and exchange
programs that enrich and foster world peace and cultural understanding.
The Five Avenues of Service are Article 6 of the Rotary club constitution. (SRCC-6)

MAKES ME PROUD TO BE A ROTARIAN IN THE ROTARY CLUB OF ST. LOUIS
The Four-Way Test of the things we think, say or do
- Is it the truth?
- Is it fair to all concerned?
- Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
- Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
Jim Merkel was the program last Thursday with his new book – Growing Up St. Louis. He had some interesting tidbits of how the book came about and the process of accumulating information for the book. He had interviewed about 15-18 people that all had a story to tell and wove in into stories about a diverse experience of growing up in STL.
This week we will be giving out the Community Service Grants to the deserved winners. Please be there to experience how much good goes on in our community.
We are continuing to work to make the zoom presentations better every week. Please let Joan know if you have and suggestions and she will pass them on to the MAC who is handling the production of the video.
ZOOM BROADCAST WILL CONTINUE FOR AT LEAST UNTIL THE END OF AUGUST FOR THOSE THAT CANNOT MAKE IT IN PERSON.
Remember to complete the new pre-meeting online registration starting with this meeting that Joan will send out. This pertains to both those attending live and virtually. Although this is not mandatory (yet) please respond to the email to give us a good idea of attendance. It worked very well last week.
PLEASE CONTINUE TO WORK AT BEING HEALTHY DURING THESE TRYING TIMES
“Call a Rotarian” – Past President Bob Garagiola kicked off this program on April 7th 2020. Let’s see if we can keep this going in support of Bob. I think this is a good gesture and will help keep us connected. And you will feel good just to make a “personal” connection. I know I have and if you do also, you’ll be amazed at the results.
Finally, if you have questions, concerns, or ideas regarding Club 11 please contact either me or our office
