106th Bowling Season, Week 5 ~ Captain Chad Baker, October 7, 2024

I just want to say that I am proud to be in this particular bowling league, with so much support not only within teams but across teams in play. Examples: Hearing everyone cheer for Bob when he makes an awesome strike, whether he does his shuffle or refuses like he did tonight, or seeing Terry giving very high fives to Team Jones (three of four have to really jump to make contact), and all the fist bumps and high-fives between bowlers on opposing teams.

For those keeping count, David Cowell was supposed to be doing Alleygations this week, but since I was going to miss my week next week (October 14), David and I switched.

High Scores of the Night: Game 1 goes to Captain Terry Werner with a 201, Game 2 goes to Ralph Decker with a 223, and I “think” Don Klackner snagged Game 3 with a 216, I didn’t get a chance to see Team Cowell vs Team Lane scores.

Other memorable moments:

  • Beth Russell had her best score yet at 168.
  • Bob “Newsy” Barnes clinched a 4-9 split by slicing the 4 pin and watching it slide across the alley to hit the 9. It was quite a sight!
  • Ralph Zuke wins the best bowling shirt, again. Also, Captain Ralph Decker and Rose Cooper wanted me to pose this question: What is Ralph listening to, or to whom is he speaking, wearing his headset all night? He looks like a telemarketer, they say.
  • It was great to meet Bob’s wife and daughter. We recognize the absence of Bob’s son-in-law tonight while he handles a family matter.

Team Vs Team Scores

Jones 16 vs Werner 6

Baker 8 vs Westreich 14 (scores were fairly close the first two games, I think exhaustion got the best of team Baker in Game 3 and we slipped a little bit!)

Decker 10 vs Driver 12

Cowell 2 vs Lane 20 (almost a cleanout by Team Lane)

Lastly, congratulations to Robert Garangiola for winning the 50/50 raffle this week of $75.

If I missed anything important, please let me know for next time so I can improve my reports.

With much appreciation,

Captain Chad
