Report on Rotary Golf League outing at St. Albans | Jack Windish

On Wednesday, October 2nd, 18 members of the Rotary Golf League gathered at St. Albans Country Club on a beautiful Fall afternoon for some competitive golf, dinner and cocktails.
At the end of the day, the best players established themselves on the Leader Board in three different flights.
B flight winners were:
3rd place, Bob Zangas 102, net 82
2nd place, Bob Garagiola 99 net 79
1st place, Bob Kocher 104 net 74

A flight winners:
3rd place, Bob Bauer 93 net 77
2nd place, Ken Schuman 90 net 75
1st place, Dan Scott 88 net 70

Championship flight winners:
3rd place, Flip Cady 81 net 75
2nd place, Steve LaFara 80 net 75
1st place, Mike Regan 79 net 72

Please note that Steve LaFara edged out Flip Cady for 2nd place on a scorecard playoff.
Both players had a net score of 75.36.
Steve had a better score on the number one handicap hole, thus winning 2nd place.
Talk about a tight race…whew!

Closest to the pin on the par 3 number 12 hole was:
2nd place, Flip Cady 70 feet.
1st place, Steve LaFara 45 feet.
Some heavy competition between these two.

Long Drive winners were:
Red tees, Don Lorenz
Blue tees, Blake Critzas

Team Game winners were:
3rd place with a total score of 129
Terry Werner, Don Lorenz, Doug Lorenz and Mike Regan (blind draw)

2nd place with a total of 129
Flip Cady, Kent Steinbrueck, Ken Schuman and Jack Windish

1st place with a score of 125
Mike Regan, Drew Baebler, Dan Scott and Bob Garagiola

Again, a scorecard playoff decided the 2nd and 3rd place winners.

Honorable Mention goes to the 4th place winner. This team also had a 129 total score,
but lost out on the money payout on the scorecard playoff. They are:
Bob Bauer, Steve LaFara, Bob Zangas and
Flip Cady (blind draw).

Our final Rotary Golf League outing will take place on Tuesday, October 8th at Sunset Country Club.
Trophy winners will be announced at dinner
along with the Most Improved Player Award,
as well as the Bob Kocher Award.
