Stephanie Bliss, Executive Director | Eugene Field House

As Executive Director, Stephanie Bliss uses her background in historic preservation to tell the important stories of the Field House Museum, a National Historic Landmark and museum located in Downtown St. Louis. The dynamic cultural institution explores the stories of the Field family, including Eugene Field, a famous newspaper columnist and poet in the late 1800s, and his father, Roswell Field, the key attorney in the Dred and Harriet Scott Freedom Suit. The museum also creates programs and exhibits on life within 1800s St. Louis and the culture of childhood through toys, along with traveling exhibits.

More About the Field House

The home was initially saved for Eugene due to the popularity of his poems such as “Wynken, Blynken, and Nod,” which were taught in schools across the nation. The house contains many of the family’s original furnishings and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2007. In 2016, an attached museum expansion was added featuring rotating exhibits and the Eugene Field Library.”
