It has been argued for decades that St. Louis is America’s best sports town. It is based upon winning teams and the city’s great fans, but more importantly it is the diverse sports history of the region. Ed Wheatley is an award-winning author, film producer, and sports historian. He is the co-author of St. Louis Browns: The Story of a Beloved Baseball Team, which was recognized by Sports Collectors Digest as the best book published on baseball in 2017 and was nominated for the Society of American Baseball Research’s Larry Ritter award. His Baseball in St. Louis – Little Leagues to Major Leagues was selected by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch as one of the top 25 books of 2020. He was executive producer of the PBS documentary A Baseball Legacy: Fans Remember the St. Louis Browns, which was selected for the Annual Film Festival at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and received a Mid-America EMMY award. He was also producer of a movie based upon his most recent book, Wrestling at the Chase, that aired on the PBS network this summer.
