Margie Sammons has been a member of the Arnold Rotary Club since 2000. She served as Club President in 2007-2008, after holding several officer positions and serving on the Board of Directors of her club. Margie served as an Assistant Governor from 2007 to 2014 and she is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow.

Sammons grew up on a farm near in Highland Missouri, attending a one-room country school for the first six years. She is from Perryville Missouri. 1980, Sammons graduated from Perryville High School as a member of the National Honor Society.

Sammons recently retired after 38 years in the emergency services field. The first ten (10) years of her medical career she was employed with Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville, Missouri and Perry County Ambulance Service. She obtained her Emergency Medical Technician training in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Later, Sammons was accredited as a Paramedic thru Saint Anthony’s Medical Center/Saint Louis Community College.

Sammons was hired at Rock Township Ambulance District in 1988 as a staff Paramedic, and held several positions within the department until becoming the Chief of the District. Margie served as Chief of the department for 17 1/2 years.

Sammons has been the recipient of the Administrator of the Year Award and Presidential Leadership Award thru the Missouri Emergency Medical Services Association, Outstanding Citizen of the Year from the Arnold Chamber of Commerce, Service Above Self from the Arnold Rotary Club, Rotarian of the Year and the Jefferson County Business Journal recognized Margie Sammons with the “Mover and Shaker” award.

Margie and her husband Randy were married in 1995. Randy retired from Fenton Fire Protection District in 2008 as a Chief Medical Officer and served in the fire and emergency medical services field for 35 years. Randy was instrumental in the development of the Saint Louis Region Critical Incident Stress Management Team (CISM). Randy served as President for numerous years and then continued to serve as a Board member and Team member for over 25 years. Randy is a Paul Harris Fellow.

Sammons has served and continues to serve as a board member of the Arnold Chamber of Commerce, Jefferson County Community Partnership, and Co-Chairman of the Jefferson County Backstoppers. She participates with delivering Meals on Wheels.

Currently, Sammons has participated as an COVID-19 Investigator.

Her daily objective is to serve and continue to support emergency medical services. Margie and her husband Randy have and continue to be members of the Backstoppers Organization.
