President’s Corner …. Still Around

 

With President Kent out of town, it was my pleasure to preside at our luncheon last Thursday with County Executive, Dr. Sam Page.  It was another great program!

 

And now, I’m filling in for PK in this week’s PepperBox!

 

There were 57 Rotarians and guests in attendance along with another 9 on Zoom.  That’s about 50% of our membership.  I think Club 11 is putting this pandemic/lockdown thing gradually behind us. St. Louis City and County have now relaxed COVID-19 restrictions.  I think we’re anxious to get out and about.  Since the fellowship of our club has remained strong, there are more opportunities ahead for us to be together.

 

*The Rotary Golf League will have approximately 30 golfers on Tuesday 5/25.

 

*Colonel John Hayden, Chief – St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department will address our Club on     5/27

 

*The Next Happy Hour is also on 5/27 at Max’s Local Eats down on Cherokee Street., 

 

*The Community Service Grants will be awarded on 6/3.  I hope you’ll attend in person.  It’s a special day on the Rotary calendar.

 

This fellowship and goodwill needs to be shared.  I’m suggesting that we begin to re-focus on attracting new members.  We all know someone who shares our values of Service above Self, so let’s invite them to a Club 11 event.  (Zoom is still an option, for now, to see how we work if there is still some hesitancy).

 

Finally, Congratulations to Terry Werner and Rebecca Richie for leading Club 11 in its inaugural

“Virtual Auction”.  Thanks to all bidders … successful or not!  We look forward to Terry and Rebecca’s report.

 

Thank you to Matt Wilson, Matt Weiss and Matt Weiss’s son-in-law John O’Sullivan for their efforts on behalf of Life Waters and the Hero Dive program that was featured on KMOV Channel 4 and financially supported by Club 11.

 

All of this leads me to President Kent’s parting words at our meeting –
