Ed Wheatley, Author - "Baseball in St. Louis From Little Leagues to Major Leagues" | October 1, 2020
In 2016, Ed Wheatley retired from his job as an engineer at AT&T. But Wheatley has kept busy — to the point that Reedy Press recently published his third book in as many years. Wheatley’s “Baseball in St. Louis: From Little Leagues to Major Leagues” surveys the city’s rich baseball history, from the Major Leaguers who got their start here to the semi-pro and amateur leagues that flourished for decades.
In the book, Wheatley posits that the classic St. Louis question asking where someone went to high school works just as well when framed around the national pastime and asking where you played baseball.

A quote of inspiration
Bob Hope was truly inspirational during his life of 100 years. A family man who was married to Dolores for over 69 years and entertained troops overseas as well as many of us in the general populous. Here is one of his most popular. May he rest in peace.

I HOPE THIS WILL PUT A SMILE ON YOUR FACE AND IN YOUR HEART.
This is a tribute to a man who DID make a difference
ON TURNING 70 - "I still chase women, but only downhill."
ON TURNING 80 - "That's the time of your life when even your birthday suit needs pressing."
ON TURNING 90 - "You know you are getting old when the candles cost more than the cake."
ON TURNING 100 - " I don't feel old. In fact, I don't feel anything until noon. Then it's time for my nap."
Each week I will highlight something about Rotary that all Rotarians should know or be aware of.
SHARING ROTARY WITH NEW MEMBERS Are you aware of the responsibility or obligation most Rotarians fail to perform? Paying their dues? Attending meetings? Contributing to the club service fund? Participating in club events and projects? No-none of these!

Bowling Alleygations 9-21-20 | Carl Lane
A balmy September evening was spent by fourteen Rotarians who made it to week two of the new bowling season. It was so quiet in the building that the clatter of falling pins was hardly noticed. Maybe that’s because so few pins fell. Maybe it was quiet because Matt Weiss was absent………

September 2nd turned out to be a great day for our Golf Tournament. The rain stayed away, and the cloud cover provide for a cooler day. We had 30 foursomes participate in a scramble format. The winning A Flight team of Joe Valenti, Brent Sinak, Norm Toon, and Chris Nasrallah shot a 54, 16 under par. Joe was invited by President Kent Steinbrueck and is with Bancorp South. Second place in the A Flight went to the team of Jeromy Fritz, John Cochran, Dan Harbaugh, and Lester Knopp. They won on a scorecard playoff with a 55, 15 under par.
