” Whatever Rotary May mean to Us, to the World

it will be known only by the results it achieves.”

Paul Harris, Rotary Founder

The Four-Way Test of the things we think, say or do

  1. Is it the truth?
  2. Is it fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
  4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

BE PROUD TO BE A ROTARIAN

ESPECIALLY A ROTARIAN IN THE ROTARY CLUB OF ST. LOUIS

As we have consistently done with our Club and our Meetings, we will continue to follow the guidelines set by the City of St. Louis and the Missouri Athletic Club (our meeting site) while having a safe environment.

As we come out of the COVID 19 this year, let’s try to work adding to our membership. If everyone just asks one close friend or business associate, we will be able to grow in 2021.

Pass on information about our club and about Rotary to your friends, send the Pepperbox to them, Like and Share on Social Media. We really do have a great club, let’s not be afraid to tell the WORLD.

PROGRAMS

Dale Kreienkamp had talked to our Club previously and sometimes with repeat speakers it becomes monotonous and doesn’t keep the attention of our members. Dale was not monotonous. He spoke to us about Navigating Organizational Transitions. He did a great job of weaving his personal experiences with the theories of how to handle job and company reorganizations. In addition, he donated his book, How Long, Oh Lord, How Long? Great program!!

Our next meeting will be on Thursday February 11th. The program will be an update on the High Speed Rail Alliance. The Executive Director, Rick Harnish will be the speaker. Their website, High Speed Rail Alliance | (hsrail.org) , is probably worth perusing prior to the meeting. With so many cars on the road and our crumbling highway system, this is a alternative to driving that is also an environmental friendly alternative to having so many automobiles. One of their projects is a St. Louis – Chicago line that will be safer, cleaner, updated and much fast than today’s train line. Be sure to stop into our meeting either in person or via Zoom to get the latest.

Each week I will highlight something about Rotary that all Rotarians should know or be aware of.

ROTARY FLOAT IN ROSE PARADE
The Rotary International float in the annual Tournament of Roses Parade is undoubtedly the largest public relations project of the Rotary clubs of the United States and Canada. Since 1924 a Rotary float has been entered every year since 1981. The famous Pasadena, California, parade is seen by millions of people via worldwide television.
Funds for the construction of the Rotary parade entry are voluntarily given by Rotarians and clubs in the U.S. and Canada. The cost of designing, constructing and flower covering a Rose Parade float begins at about $120,000.
A multi-district Rotary committee in Southern California coordinates planning of the Rotary float and provides hundreds of volunteer hours of service. The Rotary float must portray the annual parade theme, usually depicting one of the worldwide service programs of Rotary International.
Each New Year’s Day, Rotarians take pride in seeing their attractive float and realize they have shared in its construction by contributing a dollar or two to this beautiful public relations project. (38)

If you missed last week’s meeting or any meeting you can watch the recording of the zoom presentation by clicking on the link in the Pepperbox.

We are continuing to work to make the zoom presentations better every week. Please let Joan know if you have and suggestions and she will pass them on to the MAC who is handling the production of the video.

ZOOM BROADCAST WILL CONTINUE FOR AT LEAST UNTIL THE END OF April 2021 FOR THOSE THAT CANNOT MAKE THE MEETINGS IN PERSON.
