A Message From Our Governor, Luke Kehoe

As many of you know, our very own Larry Lunsford, a fellow Missourian, will be serving as Rotary International President during the 2028 Convention in Minneapolis. This is an incredible point of pride for our region, and we have a critical opportunity right now to step up and ensure his convention is a resounding success.

I am passing along a time-sensitive request from Rotary International Director Tom Gump, Chair of the Host Organizing Committee (HOC) for the 2028 Convention.

The HOC is facing a final inspection by the International Convention Committee at the beginning of August. To pass this inspection, the committee must definitively prove they have secured enough volunteers to support the event. Unfortunately, initial outreach has not yielded enough responses to meet this burden of proof.

Please circulate this information and the attached “RI 28 Volunteer Request.pdf” to your club members immediately. Let’s show up in force for Larry. Serving as a volunteer is a highly rewarding opportunity for our members to experience Rotary on a global scale and build connections with Rotarians from around the world.

  • How to apply: Interested Rotarians must send their name, email, and club name to ri2028volunteer@gmail.com. The HOC will follow up directly as details become available.
  • Dates of participation: May 26–31, 2028.
  • Start date: Many volunteer duties will commence on May 26, a day prior to the Convention’s official start.
  • Registration requirements: Volunteers will still need to register for the Convention to attend the sessions. Convention registration officially opens in June 2027.

Thank you for your prompt leadership in sharing this with your clubs.

Luke
