ALLEYGATIONS 4-13-26
Week 30 was a relatively quiet night and I wonder why that was? Ahhh, the golfers were
trying another sport and away on their annual golf trip. That was impactful as the two
teams fighting for the last playoff spot, Soifer and Werner, were each two bowlers short.
Werner’s team had a 50 pin lead going into the night and held on to win by only 11 pins.
So, the playoff teams will be Weiss (winner of three quarters), Maddox (winner of one
quarter), Baker and Werner. Good luck to each of those teams!
The fourth quarter winner was Weiss by a 25 point margin! Congratulations to them for
an overall dominating season. There were two 22-0 sweeps this week as Baker won
over Lane and Cooper crushed Werner. Weiss won 17 points from Soifer and Maddox
took 12 points from Cowell.
Mike Coleman was the star of the night with a personal high of 228 and a 566 scratch
series. David Cowell had a 211 game and a 581 scratch series. Kayla Jones and
Maddie Zuke had 147’s with Ali Griebenow right behind with a 146. Rose Cooper led
with a 394 scratch series with Kayla Jones next with a 393 scratch series. David Stuart
had a 703 handicap series and Mike Coleman a 692 handicap series. Maddie led the
women with a 697 handicap series and a 260 handicap game. Great bowling folks!
Things seen and heard around the lanes:
– There were several bowlers actually running to the bathrooms since their teams
were short of bowlers and they didn’t want to hold up the line. Or was it due to
something that they ate? Hmmmm.
– Another bad joke was announced over the loud speakers by Ralph Decker. You
want to hear it again? “What kind of cat likes to go bowling? An alley cat!” Sorry.
– Drew Baebler won $70 in the 50/50 drawing. Drew told us that he has won three
times and Dee was not there all three times. What are you saying Drew and does
she know that you are now rich?
– Who will be President of the league next year since Ralph is stepping down?
Rumor has it that David Cowell is ready to step in if asked.
– David Cowell – will you be the President next year?
– Ralph told me that the sports department at the Columbia Missourian newspaper
is sending a reporter to do a story about our St. Louis bowling rivalry with the KC
Club. No pressure but it sure would be nice to beat them this year!
Congratulations to Don Klackner on his upcoming retirement and recent birthday! We
certainly appreciate all that you have done for our bowling league and Rotary club.
Strikes and more strikes,
Terry
