St. Louis Rotary 107th Bowling Alleygations ~ Week 28 - March 30, 2026 ; Olivette Lanes | Captain Jon Soifer

Captain Jon Soifer, Week 28 Alleygations, Season 107, St. Louis Rotary Bowling League

Week 28 Alleygations 3/30/26 | Captain Jon Soifer

It was another hot night at Olivette Lanes last Monday. Rachel, Lauren, and Kayla walked in fashionably late – ½ through the first game. There was a lot of finger pointing going on. However, the late start did not detract from their bowling games. Lauren threw 5 strikes in game 1. So, maybe a late start is not a bad thing.

Overall, like the children from Lake Wobegon, almost everyone was above average. But special shout outs go to Madie Zuke and Kevin King who had handicap series of 702 and 726, respectively. The were several other high scores. Joey Papa had a 213 in Game 2; David Cowell had a 212 and a 244 in Games 1 and 3; Ralph Decker had a 225 and a 222 in Games 2 & 3; Terry Werner had a 200 in Game 1; Derrick Wending had a 201 in Game 1; Don Lorenz had a 201 in Game 2; and David Carr had a 200 in Game 3. Here’s hoping I didn’t miss one.

And Matt Maddox one the 50/50. I think he was quicker to claim the prize than Carl was last week.

Lastly, I’m sorry to report that after 15 years at Olivette Lanes, Don Klackner has decided to retire. He assures us that the new owner will be at least as good as Don has been. Now Ashley will have to train a new owner 😊 Don, thank you for all you have done. We hope that you will continue to bowl with us.

On to the matchups:

On Lanes 23 and 24 Team Weiss bowled against Team Baker and was fighting to stay in first place. For excitement, Wade reported picking up a 1-2-4-10 split. While technically not a split, it’s still a good pick-up. Early on, Matt Weiss was complaining that they were not doing too well. But they still got 14 points for the night and remain in first place. Team Weiss (which has already won 2 quarters) is now 22 points ahead of 2nd place Team Lane. With only 3 weeks left in the 4th quarter, Team Weiss is getting harder to catch. Will they win yet another quarter?

It was Team Soifer vs. Team Werner on Lanes 21 and 22. With her 702 handicap series, Maddie Zuke (playing as substitute) was the MVP for Team Soifer, helping Team Soifer earn 12 points for the night.

On Lanes 19 and 20, Team Cowell bowled against Team Copper. Despite Cowell and Decker each having 2 games over 200, Team Cowell got only 8 points for the night, Kevin King got a personal high in Game 1 (handicap game of 228). Way to go Kevin! With Kevin’s incredible night, Team Cooper ran off with 14 points for the night.

Lastly Team Lane was bowling against Team Maddox on Lanes 17 and 18, Team Lane did not have a shining 1st game. Their high scratch score for Game 1 was 125. Chance Thompson helped push Team Maddox into the lead by striking out in the 10th frame of the first game. Team Lane had a hard time catching up, and it was another 8/14 split.

With only a few weeks left in the season, don’t forget to sign up for the Bowling Trip (on April 21) and the Banquet (on April 27)

Spares and Strikes to all!
