Last Monday, St. Louis was recovering from the weekend’s snow storm. Some areas got as much as 10”. Despite the snow, we had only 4 bowlers absent.
It might have been snowy and cold outside, but things were hot inside. Wade started game 2 with 4 strikes; Chad picked up a 6-7-10 split in Game 1; yours truly picked up a 4-6 split in Game 3, and David Cowell had a 637 scratch series (222 – 183 – 232). Other kudos for high scratch games go out to President Dan (196), Terry Werner (192), Derrick Wendling (193), and Mike Coleman (202). Finally, new bowler Chance Thompson took a chance on a game of chance and won the 50/50!

On to the matchups:
In Lanes 17 and 18 it was the Family Feud – Team Maddox vs. Team Cooper. It was reported that the Matt, who was driving Rose and Lily to the alley, tried to take advantage of the situation and the snow. He threated to “drive crazy” to frazzle Rose and Lilly so that they would bowl poorly. His ill behavior (and driving) was even reported to his mother. But, his plans seemed to work. Everyone on Team Maddox bowled over average and Team Maddox bested Team Cooper 16-6.
In Lanes 19 and 20, Team Lane was up against Team Cowell. The competition was tight between Bob Zangas and Mark Rubinelli. Mark bested Bob by a single pin to 2 of the 14 points for Team Cowell.
On Lanes 21 and 22 Team Werner and Team Baker duked it out. Despite all the pin action from Ralph Zuke (who can’t throw a ball slower the 16 mph) Team Baker lost to Team Werner 8 to 14.
On Lanes 23 and 24 it was Team Soifer against Team Weiss. Matt Weiss didn’t make it despite
making the call the we would bowl, he still didn’t show up. The bowling gods favored Team Weiss. Pins fell forward to give the Team Weiss spares and strikes. It was an amazing site. In the end, Team Weiss bested Team Soifer 18-4.

Quinn Rogers carefully totaled each teams scores to determine the standings, and gleefully reported that Team Maddox, with their 16 points, moved into 1 st place. We might be competitive, but we have fun at the same time!

Spares and Strikes!
