Week 13 Alleygations 12-8-25 - Captain David Cowell

ALLEYGATIONS – 12/08/2025
How do you win a match 16-6 when you are short one bowler, no one on your team bowls their average (600), the
opposing team has a bowler, Quinn Rogers, bowl a 643, and you don’t have an 800 game all night? Ask Captain Jon
Soifer! His team of a missing Dee Baebler, Bill “Letterman” Piper, Don “DFull” Fuller and Jon may be dangerous next
week as they all lowered their averages with a 2255 series- just outdoing Team Maddox with a 2249. Dee was the only
bowler to lose her match as she was up against “The Mighty Quinn”.
Don “The Legend” Lorenz was heard saying that Vic Difate is the only member of the Rotary Bowling League that he
roots for to get a strike every time he throws the ball. I assume that he meant anyone from another team but did not
hear this clarification. Vic did have a good night with a 634, as did Schu (610) but the anchor was heavy for Team Cowell
– dragging them down to a 14-8 defeat. The Baker Boys were consistently good across the board with Maddie and Ralph
Zuke (627 &633) and Don (632). Ralph also took home $85 in 50/50 drawing. Ralph also shared a story about winning
$300 picking a 4-6-7-10 on one of his many bowling ventures. It inspired me to pick a 6-7-10, the highlight of my
evening. I was left feeling “Tangled Up In Blue”.
Team Werner (875) and Chris Wilson (178 scratch) got off to a hot start winning game one from Team Lane was a “Slow
Train” but the engine got rolling and behind a 646 from Kent Steinbrueck, and help from Coach and the Captain, Team
Lane prevailed 16-6. Chris finished with a 681 handicap to pick up the only other points for Werner.
In the last match Jack Windish showed how an anchor is supposed to bowl, picking a required 10 pin in the 10th frame to
take game one for the Weiss guys over a once again short-handed Team Cooper, with Tom and Doc MIA. Team Weiss is
looking like they want another quarter as all four were above average led by a 670-handicap series from Mike Coleman.
Captain Rose had a nice 608 series thanks to a 168-scratch game in the third attempting to salvage some points but
Weiss got all 22. Team Cooper is looking forward to the new year and new bowlers – only two more weeks seeking
“Shelter from the Storm”.
Two weeks to go and it looks like a two-horse race with Soifer trailing Weiss by a dozen.
Soifer hopes “the Times They Are A-Changin’”.
Captain David “Cowbells” Cowell, “Jokerman”
“Who Loves You Baby?” We miss President Ralph! See you in the New Year!
