Alleygations – Week 10
11/10/25
Captain Baker
Well, tonight was a great night for bowling. We had one 18-4 and THREE 22-0 clean sweeps. You don’t see that very often. The leaderboard certainly took a shift after tonight.
Sorry, Jon Soifer, but you’re 905 Game 3 was not the highlight of the night. That honor belongs to Team Werner and their 926 game, courtesy of a real hindpart-kicking performance by Joan Hecker. Joan took most of the high score spots for the night: Women’s Scratch Game (220), Scratch Series (466), Handicap Game (310), Handicap Series (736). She even outdid some of the men in those categories, ousting Don Lorenz for Scratch Game (193), and Drew Baebler for Handicap Game (344) and Series (666). One person prevented the clean sweep, Joan’s captain Terry Werner (507 Scratch Series).
Team Stats showed Team Werner’s dominance with all but the Team Scratch Series (Weiss). Great job Team Werner! Team Baker looks forward to facing you next week (maybe?).
Joan and Terry’s stellar performance bolstered their 22-0 win over Team Maddox on Lanes 23-24.
On Lanes 21-22, Teams Cowell and Weiss duked it out. However, Team Weiss in the end came through with the 22-0 win. There were a lot of 800+ games in this matchup, so there was certainly some good bowling going on both sides.
On Lanes 19-20, Cooper’s two-woman (Rose and Lily) faced off against a formidable opponent. As I mentioned earlier, Soifer pulled an impressive Game 3 with 905 total. They won their match 18-4, the only non-shut out of the night.
Finally, on Lanes 17-18, in what is usually a matchup that goes the opposite, Team Baker swept Team Lane 22-0. It seemed like Lane’s team was struggling overall. After a subpar several weeks of bowling, Captain Baker had quite a night, if he does say so himself (and I do!), pulling a career high 662 Handicap Series. Dan Conway and his Jedi tricks and dance moves was the only player on Lane to finish over average.
All in all, a great night of strikes and spares, and splits, and helicopter pins (Jon!).
Great job JOAN!!
