Each week I will highlight something about Rotary that all Rotarians should know or be aware of.
After the first Rotary Club was established Chicago in 1905, the next four Rotary Clubs were organized in cities in the western United States, beginning with San Francisco, then Oakland, Seattle, and Los Angeles. The National Association of Rotary Clubs in America was formed in 1910. On November 3, 1910, a Rotary club began meeting in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, the beginning of the organization’s internationality. On February 22,1911, the first meeting of the Rotary Club Dublin was held in Dublin, Ireland. This was the first club established outside of North America. In April 1912, Rotary chartered the
Winnipeg club marking the first establishment of an American-style service club outside the United States. To reflect the addition of a club outside of the United States, the name was changed to the International Association of Rotary Clubs in 1912.

The Four-Way Test of the things we think, say or do
1. Is it the truth?
2. Is it fair to all concerned?
3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

We are at the beginning of the Rotary year 2020-21 and I am indeed humbled to run our
prestigious club, Club 11, during this Rotary year. We have had great leadership over the
years and I will do my best to follow that example. I will need everyone’s help during the
next 12 months to make this Club as good as it’s potential.

Hopefully everyone took the last couple weeks to celebrate the birthday of the United
States of America. I know we have some problems but I think it is the best country in the
world. Independence Day is something we should celebrate every year.

Our next meeting will be July 9th with the installation of the new Board. Please plan to
attend on the 9th so you get an idea of our new leadership group. Hopefully I will see you there live but if not plan to attend via zoom.

ZOOM BROADCAST WILL CONTINUE FOR AT LEAST UNTIL THE END OF
JULY FOR THOSE THAT CANNOT MAKE IT IN PERSON.

Remember to complete the new pre-meeting online registration starting with this meeting that Joan will send out. This pertains to both those attending live and virtually. Although this is not mandatory (yet) please respond to the email to give us a good idea of attendance. It worked very well last meeting.

PLEASE CONTINUE TO WORK AT BEING HEALTHY DURING THESE TRYING TIMES

This year’s Rotary International President is Holger Knaack, a member of the Rotary Club of Herzogtum Lauenburg-Mölln, Germany.

A quote from incoming Rotary International President Holger Knaack…

“We believe that our acts of service, big and small, create opportunities for people who need our help. Rotary creates leadership opportunities and gives members the chance to travel the world to put their service ideas into action and make lifelong connections. Everything we do opens another opportunity for someone, somewhere.”

MAKES ME PROUD TO BE A ROTARIAN IN THE ROTARY CLUB OF ST. LOUIS

A quote of inspiration…

“If passion drives you, let reason hold the reigns”
~Benjamin Franklin

“Call a Rotarian” – Past President Bob Garagiola kicked off this program on April 7th. Let’s
see if we can keep this going in support of Bob. I think this is a good gesture and will help keep us connected. And you will feel good just to make a “personal” connection. I know I have and if you do also, you’ll be amazed at the results.

Finally, if you have questions, concerns, or ideas regarding Club 11 please contact either me or our office:
