Week 2 Alleygations ~ September 15, 2025 107th Season

Alleygations
Week 2 – September 15, 2025
By Jonathan Soifer

Week 2 of bowling brought back the hot weather. But that didn’t stop the fun on the lanes. There was a lot going on, so we might as well dive right in.

At the far end of the alley, Team Rose-ay (or is it Rosé) faced off against Team Soifer. For the second week in a row, Rosie was missing two bowlers. But shout to Rosie with her 626 handicap series. But Dee Babler and Don Fuller carried the night for Team Soifer with 630 and 638 handicap series, respectively. Way to go Dee and Don! It may be the lack of bowlers which caused Team Rose-ay to give up 14 points to Team Soifer.

Next door on Lanes 19 and 20, it was Team Cowell against Team Weiss. David Stuart was demonstrating how dangerous golf is. For the second week in a row, David bowled with a broken leg. We’re not sure how he did it. But it must have helped. He was the only one on both teams to hit average. Oh – and he won the 50/50 also. Lucky break! It was reported that David Cowell (gasp) actually had a gutter ball in Game 1. I don’t think I’ve seen that before. But he overcame the adversity, and in Game 2, he bowled a scratch 244 – which was also the high game for the league. David’s great Game 2, wasn’t enough, and Team Cowell gave up 16 points to Team Weill..

On Lanes 21 and 22, it was Team Baker v. Team Lane. One of the Bob’s there bemoaned the “Bowling Sucks!” That might be, because in Game 1, Team Lane’s high bowler bowled a whopping 141. I might be happy with a 141, but I suspect that Don Klackner wasn’t. But not to worry, helped by Carl’s 190 and Don’s 194, Team Lane’s scratch total in Game 2 was 207 points above the total of Game 1, giving them a handicap total of 902 points in Game 2. This beat Team Baker’s handicap game of 824. Now that does suck! Shout out to the Zukes. Maddie continued to increase her average, bowling a handicap series of 620 – and she started of Games 1 and 2 with strikes!. And Ralph had a respectable 629. On the other side, Coach and Carl had 641 and 661 series, respectively.

Finally, Teams Werner and Maddox faced off on lanes 17 & 18. There apparently wasn’t much to report. But Quinn had a great night, with a 653 handicap series.

With Week 2 in the books, we’re beginning to see a spread in scores. Team Maddox is now the team beat.

I’ll be out for week 3. But have another great night of bowling with lots of strikes (xxx) and spares (///)!!!
