ABOUT MELISSA PRICE SMITH

Received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from University of Missouri.
Received a law degree from Saint Louis University School of Law in 1997.
Started legal journey at Circuit Attorney’s Office where she was hired by Dee Joyce-Hayes, the first woman Circuit Attorney.
After a few years at the CAO, she went in to civil litigation for 7 years.
Price Smith was hired by Bob McCulloch at the St Louis County Prosecutor’s Office in 2008 where she worked for him for 10 years. She then went on to work for Wesley Bell for 6 years when he took over the office.
She has handled hundreds of cases & most all kinds of criminal charges from misdemeanors, guns & drugs, robberies, burglaries, homicides and for the last several years has specialized in Sexual Assault and Child Abuse.
In addition, she has first chaired 35+ felony jury trials.
Melissa was appointed by the Governor and was sworn in as the St Louis County Prosecutor on January 3, 2025 as the first woman prosecutor in St Louis County.
Most importantly, she is the mother to Luke and Grace. Grace is currently a sophomore at Mizzou and plans on attending law school. Luke is a senior at Missouri Baptist University studying education. She describes them as “my heart and my reason for everything.”
