Alleygations Week 22 ~ Captain David Cowell ~ February 24, 2025

Cowell was on Lanes 23-24 matched up against the 3rd Quarter Champs, Team Lane. It was a very even match
with both teams having 3 of 4 bowlers above their averages for the night. Team Lane carried their momentum from Q3
forward taking G1 behind a turkey in the 10th from Jeannine Conway and a 208 scratch game from Kent “Steinie”
Steinbrueck. Team Cowell taking their lesson in G1 came alive in G2 with all 4 bowlers over average and the anchorman
finishing with 5 in a row to force the rubber game of the match. In what they hope is a momentum swing in their
direction, in search of the 4th Quarter crown, Cowbells were ringing again in G3 as they bested the Lanes enroute to a
14-8 decision. Jack Windish, on the bench for Team Lane, hung around to watch the proceedings and took home the
50/50 drawing.

Next door on 21-22 Team Driver was up against Team Decker and his band of merry women. Captain Robert Driver was
not in attendance. Possibly still celebrating an anniversary? No, that was from my December notes. There seemed to be
concerns around Mike Regan and his roommate for the upcoming AZ golf trip. It seems he has had a rotating door of
roommates over the years. I hear Katie is working on a t-shirt for him. I don’t want to ruin the surprise, but you should
talk to Katie for the full story. Matt Weiss led the Drivers to victory in G1 with a 196 scratch, nice! I hear he also picked a
4-7-9 split. The Deckers eked out an 11-pin win in G2 but the Baeblers finished them off in G3 to give the Drivers a 16-6
victory. Drew and Dee Baebler (635/634 handicap series respectively) led the way for the Drivers. The Deckers trying to
find their sea legs had nobody over average. I hope we are not bowling them next week.

Many stories were coming out of Lanes 19-20 where Team Baker was matched up with Team Weistreich. The golf trip,
$2 bills in the 50/50, and pairs and twins were wild. Tom Carroll and Jon Soifer both with 614 handicap series got a little
more help from their team as they took down Team Baker 12-10 even though Katie LaMarsh and Captain Chad Baker
both had a 632 handciap series. Captain Wade Weistreich closed out G1 strong to win by 5 pins or the score would have
been reversed. So, although Wade was the only bowler on his team under average that game, and for the night, he
came up big when needed.

Finally, down on Lanes 17-18 Team Jones was matched up with Team Werner. Team Jones sitting winners of the 1st 2
quarters seem to have gotten their mojo back after going from 1st to last in the 3rd Quarter. Rose Cooper rolling into
their lineup was a natural fit and after the 22-0 drubbing of Team Werner exclaimed, “Girl Power!”. We’ll see next week
if this is the team of Q1 & 2, or of Q3. Ali Griebenow led the way with a 685 handicap series, and got plenty of help from
Captain Kayla Jones with a 640. Not sure who was in charge for Team Werner with the Captain missing but they were
rudderless. While searching for an adjustment for Ken Schuman’s bowling woes in G1 rather than adjusting his approach
or bowling form, they thought it was his shirt collar? The mind is a crazy thing. It actually helped for a frame or two then
the magic wore off. No one from Team Werner made their average. Another team to avoid next week.

Also, a big thanks to Don Klackner and the staff at Olivette for a successful bowling fundraiser this past Sunday where
$3390 was raised for the Welfare Fund.

On to Week 2 of 8 in this final quarter of the Rotary bowling season! See you all next week at Olivette Lanes.
Respectfully submitted – Captain David “Cowbells” Cowell
