106th Season – Week 13  | December 2, 2024

For those keeping track, Captain Cowell and I switched weeks.

Good news!  There were no falls on the lanes this week.

I think a lot of people were still hungover from Thanksgiving because tonight’s bowling was truly a comedy of errors.  Splits that should have been strikes (literally, about every lane had about 4 more splits than usual), Gutterballs that had hopes of being strikes. Pins that should have fallen that bent to new lows and bounced back up.  Some blamed the oil on the lanes, but I know what it was, just an off night for many.

Starting off on Lanes 17 and 18, Team Jones and Team Werner, with Captain Jones out, Wade allowed the ladies to add benched bowler Jon Soifer to the mix.  Game 1 was a crusher, with Tom Keeline achieving his personal best of 180 against his opponent Lauren. But, Games 2 and 3 belonged to Lauren and Team Jones as Tom cooled off.  Despite some great bowling by the Dons (Klackenz), Team Jones managed a 14-8 victory and will probably keep their lead (*cough*dominance) overall in the league.

Lanes 19 and 20, Team Baker squeaked by Team Westreich with a 12-10 lead.  Captain Baker was running around taking videos of the various split attempts and missed a lot of his team’s performance, but it looked like there was some good fun happening.

Lanes 21 and 22, Team Decker vs Team Driver, I heard lots of cheers from Team Driver, I witnesses many strikes by the likes of Matt Weiss, Rose Cooper, Lily Michaels, Amy Lewis, Bob G and Robert Driver.  Scores came out 12-10 in favor of Team Decker.

At the end of the alley, Quinn Rogers of House Zuke (Team Cowell) achieved his personal best of 163 in Game 1.  Game 2 was a nail biter of a game with the teams very close in score, but when the pressure was on, Team Lane, courtesy of Carl and Jack, bested Team Cowell.
Scores were, surprise suprise, 12-10, in Team Cowell’s favor.  Dave Safarian had quite a few strikes, some of them caught on camera.  Dave was rocking his red flannel tonight.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard Lily tell me “You missed [insert something Rose did]”, I’d have enough money to buy everyone a bag of chips.   If I recall correctly, she was rubbing Robert Driver’s head like it was a crystal ball. Speaking of Rose, she won the 50/50 pot of $78.

Seriously people, if you see Rose do something, get a picture of it, or it didn’t happen.

Team Baker bids farewell to Rick “Nuch” Tinucci as he was with us for the first half only and he’s taking the rest of this half off.

COOLEST MOMENT AWARD goes to Dan Conway on Lane 24 who pulled a Jedi Mind Trick strike in Game 3.  The ball was rolled, the pins were hit, and they weren’t all quite down, until Dan did a little hand movement and the last pin fell!

That will be all for now, until next time, in 8 weeks.

Captain Chad
