HIGH DRAMA ON OLIVETTE SEAS

Apparently, auditions to the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie sequel were being held by Disney at Olivette Lanes on Monday evening 10/28. But only team Decker knew about it. I guess they’ll get all the great roles! In a somewhat dubious polling conducted by Ralph, it was determined that Amy Lewis had the best pirate costume (it had to be the three different hats – colonial pirate, hippie do pirate, and Minnie Mouse pirate that put her over the top). Lily Michaels and Rose Cooper received kudos for their efforts too. Ralph Decker’s effort was summarily shunned and he is referred to professional counseling. However, his trick-or-treat bag of shareables was highly celebrated and one bowler noted that instead of being “liquored up” for bowling, this time they would be “snickered up”!

It was the final gathering of the maties in the first quarter of competition, and high drama ruled the pirate bowling seas. Speaking of thievery, Team Werner had closed the gap at the top in recent weeks to only four points, and they had their sights set on stealing the 1st quarter win away from Team Jones. It was back and forth and undecided until the 30th frame of competition. Team Jones won the first game big; Team Werner did the same in the second. Team Jones started hot in game 3; then Team Werner closed hard at the end (led by three straight strikes by Joey Papa and four straight strikes by the always clutch Don Lorenz). But Team Jones closed the door in the 10th and secured the night 14 – 8; winning the quarter with 116 points!

Captain Kayla Jones said, “It was a true team effort, we bowled one roll at a time, and in the end, Rachel Collier was our MVP with a blowout 657 series.”

When asked what she attributed her great success to, MVP Collier said, “Oh, it was definitely the Dr. Pepper!” And another edition of Fansville is born.

Among the teams, Team Driver scored a 20 – 2 victory over Team Decker, in large part thanks to Mike Regan who rolled a 194-scratch game (top game handicap of the night – 252). Team Cowell also finished strong with a 20 – 2 win (top team handicap series – 2536) over Team Baker – even though Team Baker had the second highest team series of the night! David Cowell led the way with the top scratch game of 225 and top individual handicap series of 687.

On to Quarter 2. What movie will be auditioning at Olivette Lanes next?

Submitted by Robert Driver – who has got information vegetable, animal and mineral, he knows the kings of England and quotes the fights historical – he is the very model of a modern major general. (Extra points for identifying the song/show).
