Captain David Cowell - Week 6 Alleygations 10-14-24

ALLEYGATIONS‐ 10/24/2024 – CAPTAIN DAVID COWELL

Team Cowell was on Lanes 19‐20 matched up with Team Decker. Ralph put a Lady in Charge in the form of Rosalita Cooper, and she took charge rolling a 203 scratch in Game 3 for a 506 scratch series (262/683 handicap). 3 of those 4 scores are highs for the year, and the last one she also holds with a 695 handicap series earlier this year. Way to go Rose. Bill Piper and Lily Michaels were the supporting cast in the 13/9 decision. On the bright side for Team Cowell, they increased their point total for the 1st Quarter 50%, from 18 to 27 points. Ralph Zuke’s 658 handicap series was 2nd high for men on the night but it was not enough. Wait for it ‐ high score was next door on 21‐22 and he was ROLLING!

Next door on 17‐18 Team Driver was up for the matchup with Team Lane. Coach Driver told me the story was still being written after Game 1, and maybe he would put it down in a song. Well, if a song it would be a rocker. THE PILEDRIVERS had no mercy on Team Lane crushing them 22‐0. Club President Matt Weiss, Robert Driver and Ken Schuman were all above average for the night. Jeannine Conway and Jack Windish were above average for the defeated Lane but provided little resistance although Jack’s comeback in Game 3 got them close to some points.

There were fireworks on 21‐22 with Team Werner (‐Klackner) matched up with Team Weistreich. Captain Wade Weistreich, a true Captain, led the way with 203/546 scratch scores, 252/693 handicap ‐ 3 of the 4 top scores for the night. I know he had 6 in a row to close out Game 1 and that was not his 203 – that was Game 3. Quite a night. The high scratch game was next door on 23‐24. Jon Soifer also beat his average and picked a 6‐7‐10 split to aid in the effort and Team Weistreich took 14 from Werner even though they were a man down. Vic Difate, Joey Papa and Tom Keeline all had good nights for Werner but it was not enough.

Finally, down by the doors on 23‐24 it was Team Baker (+Klackner) was taking on front runner Team Jones. Team Baker chipped into their Jones’ 1st Quarter lead with a 14‐8 decision. Don Klackner was anchoring Team Baker and in Game 1 he was a literal/metaphorical anchor ‐ weighing them down! But he came back and bowled like the #1 draft pick that he was this year, rolling a 214 in Game 2 and leading them to victory in the last two games.

The 50/50 drawn by Brad was won by George Barron in the League next door on 15‐16. George said he will be back next week so he can draw the winning ticket.

We were three bowlers short this week. Let’s have a full slate of bowlers next week at Olivette Lanes!
