Some say he’s crazy. Others say he’s a throw-back.
When Matt and his wife moved to the St. Louis area, it was just the two of them. Needless to say, it’s not just the two of them anymore. Their family has quadrupled in size – Matt and Stephanie are now raising SIX children in the Metro East! You might see them out and about in the Fairview Heights/O’Fallon area, although you’ll probably hear them coming long before you catch sight of them!
Matt came to KMOV as the weekday morning meteorologist, and still lends a hand in the 4Warn Storm Center when needed. But he’s found a second passion in his role as co-host and co-producer of Great Day St. Louis, airing every weekday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. Since joining the Great Day team, he’s interviewed Robin Williams, Will Ferrell, Caroline Kennedy, Hulk Hogan, Mark Wahlberg, Cedric the Entertainer, Gene Simmons, Ozzie Smith, Jon Hamm, Scott Bakula, Lou Ferrigno, Cloris Leachman, and too many others to list here. He’s flown with the Air National Guard Aerobatics Team, mingled with Cardinals fans while impersonating Harry Caray, turned a Taylor Swift song into a Star Wars parody, danced the Whip/Nae Nae, ziplined, swung on a trapeze… He’ll do just about anything on live TV!
Matt is a true science nerd at heart. He studied meteorology at the University of Missouri – Columbia, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Soil & Atmospheric Sciences, along with a minor in mathematics. He still bleeds Tiger black and gold, and serves on the Alumni Advisory Council to the University’s School of Natural Resources.
Matt’s obsession with bacon earned him an Emmy nomination as host of the half-hour primetime special “In Search of Bacon.” That was just the first of several Emmy nominations. He’s also been nominated twice as host of Great Day St. Louis. His on-air talents have also been recognized by the Missouri Broadcasters Association with awards for “Best Weathercast” and “Best Children’s Programming.” The American Meteorological Society has awarded Matt the distinction of “Certified Broadcast Meteorologist.”
Before joining the team at KMOV, Matt worked with KOMU in Columbia, MO, and KRCG in Jefferson City, MO.
The Chambers crew makes frequent trips across Missouri to visit family back home in St. Joseph and Kansas City. You might also run into them at the St. Louis Zoo, the Science Center, the Magic House, the Lake of the Ozarks, campgrounds, hiking trails, any park with slides and swings, or any number of other fun destinations across Missouri and Illinois.
