Bowling Alleygations   Week 17

January 10, 2022      Carl Lane

• After finishing fifth and eight in the first two quarters, the Barnes Team is in first place having lost only 4 points so far.  This week they trounced the Decker team winning 19 points.  Both teams were one bowler short but all four bowlers exceeded their average.  Even though Ralph had nice games of 190, 238, and 242 it was not enough to beat Gary Jones who continued his torrid pace with a 698 series.  Bob Barnes also had a good series with a 659 total.

• Team Lane continued with its struggles to emerge from the bottom tier.  Matt Maddox led his team with a blistering 719 total (which led all bowlers) and his team took 14 points.

• On Lanes 23 and 24 Joan Hecker was faced with the formidable task of competing against Curt Linton and Don Klackner by herself.  Helped by Curt’s and Don’s lackluster performances, she won the first game.  (Guess the Conways were busy watching the Alabama/Georgia game).

• Vic DiFate led his team with a 642 total and took 12 points from team Lehmkuhl.  The first game’s outcome was determined by a single pin.  Bet Matt Weiss is thinking surely he could have added two more pins to his 144 total in this game.

• Speaking of betting I noticed the following graph showing the over/under team average by Lanes.  Have not seen this before but I would not be surprised if some of you bowlers have not been betting on the spread given your gambling proclivities.

Week 17 only had 17 bowlers which means there were 7 open slots that bowled 570.  It also means there is a reduced pot in the 50/50 drawing; although this means nothing to me as I never win.  Know there are scheduling conflicts from time to time, but REALLY is a trip to Florida more important than League participation????

Respectfully Submitted,
