Rotary Club of St. Louis ~ Letter from the President | November 25, 2021
Greetings, my fellow Rotarians!!!
Happy Thanksgiving!!!
We have so much to be thankful for as we reflect back on our lives. I am thankful for the countless blessings and graces that I have been given and especially for those things that I take for granted every day!
If you stop to think about it, most people in this world cannot comprehend the lifestyle we enjoy every day. We live in the greatest country on earth, we have a roof over our heads and a warm bed to sleep in. We have food in our refrigerators, cars, TVs, computers, cell phones and bank accounts! We have great families and friends! We enjoy vacations and parties and we can do or have almost anything we want.
I would like to express my appreciation to my friends in Rotary. The privilege that I have to be the president of our club has been an eye-opening experience. I get to witness first-hand the wonderful work, and “Service Above Self” that my fellow Rotarians perform every day. As an example, I recently asked for volunteers to help with Old Newsboys Day last Thursday. Eight people came to the rescue starting at 6:30 in the morning to sell newspapers to support children’s charities. It was a great success!! We collected over $800 for the day!!
There are so many other examples of “people of action” in our great club!
I would like to thank the members of our Board of Directors, the committees and the people that run them. Thanks to all of you who do so much to change lives!
Here are a few words of wisdom that I would like to share.
Start where you are.
Use what you have.
Do what you can.
Happy Thanksgiving!!!
President Jack Windish
