Rotary Club of St. Louis – Club 11
 | Letter from the President ~ November 4, 2021

   Greetings my fellow Rotarians!

This past Friday, four members of the Board attended the Rotary District Assembly meeting at Cedar Lake Cellars Winery in Wright City. Approximately 75 Rotarians from District 6060 gathered to exchange ideas and discuss the future of our Rotary Clubs. Richard Warriner, President Elect encouraged us to attend this meeting. Richard, Rebecca Richie, Jeromy Fritz and I accepted the invitation.

As Rebecca said, after meeting other friendly like-minded Rotarians, it’s a motivating experience.

As you can imagine, the focus of the meeting was membership. How do we attract new members, especially younger people to join our clubs.

One of the best ideas came from Rebecca Richie. She asked, why don’t we have a “Bring your children to Rotary Day”?

The thought really intrigued me as I thought of numerous examples of children of Rotary members who have already joined our club. Recent inductees include,

Adam McNutt, Amy Lewis, Michelle Heath and Chris Wilson. All of these young Rotarians have made a tremendous impact on our club. They have joined committees, participated in the Bowling League, Golf League and have taken it upon themselves to get involved in our club.

Club 11 is a great family of friends United in service. We have all benefited from from the fellowship we enjoy in our club.

Why not introduce this concept to our kids?

Let’s push this idea forward and start an annual tradition to bring our children to Rotary. This can actually be accomplished any Thursday at our weekly meetings.
