Persimmons Country Club Golf League Outing
The Rotary golf league had the golf outing at one of the best kept country clubs in the St. Louis area, Persimmon Woods Golf Club in Weldon Springs. All of the groups got stared on time but we had a rain delay shortly after getting started. After the rain it cooled down a bit and we ended up with a nice day on a spectacular course.
Persimmon was in great shape with nice fairways and smooth greens. From personal knowledge I would recommend staying out of the rough. We had a nice number of golfers with 20 players with 19 staying for dinner.
Medalist for the event was Steve LaFara with a spectacular one over par 72 (with a triple bogey on hole #9) on a fairly tough track. Well done Steve!! I think this was the low round thus far for the year in the league.

Most had plenty of time for fellowship following golf on the balcony with a very picturesque view. About 7:30 or so we were ready for dinner. We had a wonderful wedge salad followed by our entrée of a KC strip covered with onion straws with delicious garlic potatoes. Dessert featured a BOWL of berry cobbler topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. OMG As usual after dinner the golf prizes were award between which was some great bantering occurred most of which cannot be repeated. A few stayed for a cocktail for a few stories before heading home.
We are all looking forward to our next outing scheduled for Wednesday September 4th at Algonquin Country Club. It is a beautiful, mature, tree lined course in Webster Groves on Berry Road. Be sure to get your reservation into Dave Wicks and feel free to invite guest. It really is great fellowship and we play on some of the nicest golf courses in the St. Louis area.
Hope to see you then,
Kent Steinbrueck
