Glen Echo Golf League Outing Report:

Wednesday, July 7, 2021

We had another wonderful golf outing at the Glen Echo Country Club on July 7th. There were 23 golfers plus our host Jim Gidcumb. Jim was unable to play due to a knee injury but he did chip and putt. My eyewitness account is that Jim has not lost any of his golfing skill due to the injury! Get well soon Jim and we look forward to your full return soon.

The course was in excellent condition and was followed by a good meal. There was a late ice cream addition which seemed to enhance the apple crumb pie desert! Great idea Coach!

As usual, we had a range of playing performances but only a few get to receive recognition as noted below:

There was some confusion on the Long Drive winner for the Masters division so I want to be very clear about this. JACK WINDISH WAS THE LONG DRIVE WINNER FOR THE MASTERS DIVISION! YEP, JACK DID IT! HE HIT IT FURTHER THAN ANY OF THE OLDER GUYS AND KEPT IT IN THE FAIRWAY! MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT, JACK WINDISH WAS THE LONG DRIVE CHAMPION FOR A DAY!

The other Long Drive winner for the Youth division was Blake Critzas. (and he didn’t make a big deal of it)!

Closest to the Pin:
Hole #9: Gary Jones first, Don Lorenz second, Matt Weiss third.
Hole #14: Jay Ryan first, Cris Conner second, Matt Weiss third.

Individual winners were as follows:

Championship Division:
Kent Steinbrueck 84-69
Steve Lafara 80-75
Blake Critzas 82-76

A Division:
Harold Kalde 89-71
Earl Poe 91-71
Ken Schuman 91-72

B Division:
Tom Keeline 111-75
David Wicks 100-77
Pete Milne 107-80

The team of Critzas, Whittington, Keeline and Wicks took first place in the team competition.

Congratulations to all of the winners but especially to JACK WINDISH FOR WINNING THE LONG DRIVE COMPETITION IN THE MASTERS DIVISION!

Our next outing is scheduled for Algonquin Country Club on Wednesday, 7/21.

Hit ’em straight no matter where you play!

Terry
